5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job at half the price.
I really had no desire to buy an X-Box 360 but my wife was sold on the Kinect work out games since she has had such good results with the Wii fit games. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Just Like the Microsoft HD, but Half the Price!
Had this in my new Xbox Slim for a few weeks now. Works fine. Plug and play. No issues. Highly recommend over the Microsoft brand one.

This review is from: 250G HDD Hard Disk Drive For Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim
The main complaint from people is that this piece is not an OEM HDD...so what? you do get what you pay for, you get a WD 250gb HDD in a reproduction HDD case. It works, I plugged mine in and it serves its purpose - there is even some troll posting that he has an "old friend" in "Redmond"...so this guy is leading us to believe that he has some type of insider information from MS, that they're going to ban users for using these drives and it's complete BS. MS cannot ban you for buying and using YOUR drive, people get banned for modifying MS designed equipment, ie their designed DVD drives, chipset, etc. This is a violation of the terms of LIVE / warranty, because these mods are done with the intent to run pirated games and applications that were not developed by official means. The worst thing that could happen is that they put out an update that renders third party storage devices useless like they did with the Datel memory cards on the first gen system, if anyone remembers. I doubt that would happen though, because 1. The "slim" does not use memory cards 2. MS released the last update to include thumb drives as storage options 3. The drives are based on what MS themselves use in OEM drives - it would be hard to ban what closely resembles OEM 4. These mods are not mean to circumvent any protection on the xbox. In fact most people that do this are merely trying to save a buck. I took the $100 or so that I saved and went out to buy some more games, I don't pirate, don't JTAG, don't cheat online - I just want more space to go along with the official software I buy, in fact I'm very much a MS fanboy - I have PC's running Win, I own a Zune, have the original Xbox and just traded in my 20gb first gen Xbox 360 and bough the slim with Kinnect. Oh, and to the person who says that the drive only shows 227gb...the xbox will format the drive and use a certain amount of space for system files, in this case 23gb. It will do that with ANY drive, even the OEM one. You can't knock a product for something that is beyond its control...
To summarize this, you either want to save a buck or you don't. Buy it and save a few ucks or spend $120 and get an OEM - its that simple...
